NexQL - Database Technology for Large Data Sets

Software

Quasar's is a "plug and play" solution for most databases, and requires no modifications to the existing application environment. NexQL uses advanced indexing technologies and a unique Boolean engine that provides high performance through a simple approach. Leveraging standard database features, administrators can easily add NexQL’s Quasar to an existing infrastructure without making changes to end-user applications.

Administration of Quasar is also simple and straightforward, and requires minimal training. Quasar can interface with traditional databases through existing "hooks" such as the Oracle Cartridge that supports extensible indexing. This is available in Oracle version 8i and higher, and does not require any additional software or licenses. Quasar also provides its own API and can be tuned for more of an application focus to support application specific algorithms, providing even greater performance.

Quasar and Oracle

Quasar Management Console is tightly integrated with Oracle. All communication and concurrency with Quasar is managed via Oracle and therefore subject to the same security as all other applications.

Below is a system view of a typical installation for a high-end Oracle database with Quasar.

The Application Server: System users initiate queries to the database via the application server

The Database Server: Parses queries to and from the application server

The Data Cartridge: Oracle Cartridge provides the NexQL interface

The Query Router: Maintains and manages the indexes and Index Engines

The Index Engine: Caches all indexes and performs queries
